Well, okay, so content has been slow this second half of the year, and for that I apologize. Frankly, my monetization efforts and the cost of the creation of content have been a hindrance for a while. I've decided, in the future, to make this an note-blog and link hub for a future blog I will be starting Summer of 2011.

Zombie Film

Im finally finished making my short zombie film. A few more days and distribution channels will be set up, and we should be good to go. In the meantime, I'm preparing short stories, and the webpage for the domain that I've set up to market it.

Corpsewood Pictures

Yes, two days late, most certainly I apologize for that. And they aren't anything really spectacular, so keep a look out for my future pictures from the second go.

When I spotted this, I knew I was close. Summerville is just five miles south of the haunted locale. However what they dont tell you, is Summerville is about 65 miles away from this sign, or was it 66.6? Either way, I knew it was a good sign.

Okay, bad puns aside, Im still amazed at our ability to hide and sequester away some of the most interesting places I've ever heard of. Trion, the nearby town, has gone to great lengths to reduce traffic to the house. But that didn't stop me!

Local law enforcement have driven these stakes up, blocking our way into the Manor.

Its unfortunate though, as the decency of the people of Trion, the efforts of their Law Enforcement, and a rain storm couldn't stop me. But a black bear certainly did.

I will return.

Corpsewood Trip

Hey all! Finally made it to Corpsewood! What an interesting...journey it was to get there. I did it over the weekend, and so far, I am interested to go back out. Unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures of the ruins themselves. But I have a good reason.

The drive itself only takes about $10 USD in petrol, and is about two hours north of Atlanta. If you know what highways your sticking too, it actually isn't to hard to get to Summerville, or even to Corpsewood Manor itself.

You have to drive on an Abandoned Road, for a good few miles, up a mountain side, and the pavement quickly gives way to gravel and dirt. As the road is supposed to be closed, you have to find a way to either hide your car, or have a driver who can drive back and pick you up after you've done your investigation.

When you get to the spot, you'll see the town has erected three concrete pillars, totally blocking passage to the manor. From there, you will have to proceed by foot.

I noticed alot of Shot Gun Shells, and just as I was cresting the road towards the Manor Ruins, I saw what was either a big dog, or a small bear, in the treeline. I only had a knife on me, so I made my way back to the car, and am now determined to return with a full crew and a gun, to do a more thorough investigation.

Wow...One Month

This has been the longest break I've taken from this blog since I've started it. I will be the first to admit, that it is very hard to come up with fresh new content to post about. But, Im getting my refund very soon, so I will definately have more things to post.

I'm planning one big trip into Canton, and then up into Rome, to get some pictures and stock footage of both Hell's Church and Corpsewood Manor. I recently took a trip down to Savannah...totally forgot to bring my camera though. At least I know my car can make it.

I'm very excited as I'm finally back in school. Things seem to be turning around fo me! I'm still undecided whether or not I will pursue the Village Inn Bed and Breakfast film. Its now seeming as if it would be a monumental waste of time and money.

I will call them and make appropriate contacts and let you guys know.

But most definately, the Corpsewood Manor shoot will go well. Also, if anyone knows anyone who owns the book "Murder at Corpsewood" please let me know. Im looking to purchase it, and would be willing to pay a premium.

I've decided, in my wisdom, that I will pay paying the full amount for the formation of the Four Rose Charity myself. Im setting aside $200 a month for six months, if possible, so that I can reach that point. However, if you would like to contact me about donations, or selling the book, my email is below.

Short Film Contest

Hello Gentle Readers. Today, I am anting to go ahead and announce the first annual short film contest "Two-Minute Screamer; 2010", this event is sponsored by Crimson Star Entertainment.

Okay, so what is it, you ask? Well this weekend, I was watching two zombie movies, in an attempt to stimulate my creative mind, so that I could work on my novel. And it worked. Hopefully, this week, I will write another 10,000 to 15,000 words, god willing. But those movies were the mega-Hollywood Blockbuster, Dawn of the Dead and the low-budget Zombie Apocolypse.

However, this did get me thinking. How about I make a low budget film, as scary as I could, given items around the house? Well, I'vedecided to do just that. Only, I've decided to let you, the community be apart of this.

The contest officially starts tommorrow, March 1st, 2010. The deadline for entries is March 15th, 2010. This gives film-makers 15 days to come up with their short films.

What sort of guidelines are there? Well, its low-budget, and by low-budget, I mean $0.00, you must produce your work with only those things you find around your house, and using volunteers. The only exception to this is petrol money to reach a location for shooting, and money for Film, DV Cords, Batteries. Etc.

The film must be of the horror genre, and can only be two minutes long. Once you submit your work, you agree that we have first right to publish, which will last for 90 days after your submission.

Okay, so those are the rules. What does the winner get? He recieves a signed copy of our Four Rose Short Film, and a spot on our main site to publish his film. This spot will last, at a minimum, 90 days, and at most, a year, as decided by CSE. In addition, you also recieve up to three links to websites of your choice. Our website has PageRank of 3; and a very targetted audience of gamers and other unique parties.

Four Rose Foundation

So, thats the name we've given the charity organization so far. We are up to $10; but we need $1200, and thats just to form the organization itself. But dont worry, I will be stepping back in to pay most of this in the coming months.

However, if you want to help, you can. And I know most of you are rolling your eyes, thinking I'm going to ask for a donation.

Village Inn Bed and Breakfast

Hey Ghost Fans!

So I went ahead and did some initial photo-shoot of the Village Inn Bed & Breakfast, in Stone Mountain Georgia. The Village Inn is a historic building in Stone Mountain, dating back to 1830. This makes it one of the Oldest buildings in the Metro Area (Buildings on the east side tend to be older on average).

There are many stories of hauntings and creepy noises in the night. Im currently discussing with the owner to get some more information, so that I may begin shooting.

New Happenings

Alright, so I know there hasn't been too much content up here in the past week or so. I'm making movement towards getting filming done on my next project. If you have been keeping up, you know that I'm planning to film at Hell's Church in Canton.

However, recent developements have spurred another movie. I've recently recieved permission from the Owner of Stone Mountain Bed & Breakfast, one of the oldest buildings in the Metro Area (1830), to conduct an investigation and have the building as the centerpiece to my next movie. Hopefully negotiations don't flop, and shooting will get started in about two weeks.

I also got news that the proof of the movie with blooper reel has arrived at CreateSpace. Another four weeks, and I should have a working product ready for distribution. It will be a great way for you guys to contribute to the Rufus Rose Fund, and get something in return.

If you dont know, I've started the Rose Fund to help save the rose house and alleviate some of the poverty here in Atlanta. Currently, our first goal is to raise enough money to incorporate our charity as a 501C(3) organization. A task, at this point, that will require about 1200 USD. We have currently raised about $20 USD.

So we definately need your help!

Anyhow, I've decided our next film project will be about Hell's Church in Canton, Georgia. Its doubtful that we will be able to get inside, but hopefully I will be able to pull up alot of information.

Rufus Rose Charity

Just a small update. Today I'm out to look for some more content, hopefully I will make another post before the day is done. But I want to keep you guys up to date with what is happening with the Charity.

My riginal estimation of required amount of money just to file my 501c3 organization was very much off. After research and shopping around, Ive decided to use legal zoom. However, even legal zoom requres $595; plus I have to set aside another $500 for filing fees and such.

So the total, I'm lookig to raise abot $1200 USD in order to get the charity organized. I will accept any and all help, from 50c to as much as you would like to give. I will be keeping track of all donations seperately, and I will include them as the first set of contributions to the charity, upon email request:

Corpsewood Manor Documentary

Got some great new information about the manor, and have located on Google maps what I believe is the site. However, I will depend alot upon the directions of locals when we get up there and prepare for shooting. That is, after all, the goal.

Second movie looked like it was going to be about Hell's Church, but as of yet, I haven't found enough information about the Church to make it appealing to me. So I might just go ahead, go for the gusto, and do Corpsewood Manor.

I'm thinking, if I can ride up there myself and get some photos and footage, it might do well. Then I can do most of the filming down here in Atlanta.

Anyone have any opinions? And don't forget to donate to the Four Rose fund!

Okay, so finally added The Roman's sculptures to the main blog. After getting a second NATT from a magazine publisher for the same story; I've decided to release it online. Its $2.99, and will be sent to you as a PDF file. Its a very good story, but was far too niche to be acceptable in a magazine. However, I think the second story I sent out, will probably be accepted. Its much more artistic and much more personal.

The story itself is high fantasy, about a criminal waging a one-man war against an empire. But his reasons for doing so are not clear, as the investigator who arrives is further confused by his actions. Its a great beginning for a new series!

The setting is Eavton, the same as my Knight Spectre Comic, an agrarian nation of halflings and men headed by an all-powerful Emperor who shares divine lineage. A proto-typical "Righteous" nation, their society is well-structured and organized, to the extent of having huge social controls on their people. However, now, a new threat is growing in the North.

Like the idea? Read the short story. Soon I will be starting a novel and a sourcebook for the setting!

Just putting up a blog post before I return to trying to continue writing my novel. If you've been keeping up with this blog you know about the novel, or, in so much as I will tell you. However, if you are new, the Novel is going to be an apolitical view of an outbreak of a deadly aggressive disease in a special world. There is another great twist, but I don't wanna give that away. I think though, it should have some positive response from the publishing industry.

However, as to other news, I'm in the process of incorporating my own charitable organization. Our mission statement is to preserve certain historical landmarks in downtown Atlanta (notably the Rose House; see the film we made), provide some economic benefit to the community, and donate any proceeds from the process to charity.

Using the funds raised, we will not only start a cultural awareness campaign for the Rose House (website), but we will attempt to buy or lease the home, restore it, and commercialize it. Commercial ideas include a downtown Ghost Tour; A Bar; and a special option for renting rooms in the 'haunted' house. All proceeds from these actions, minus a reservation for expansion and emergency of 30%, shall go to local Atlanta Foodbanks and Homeless Shelters.

So we could definately use any support that you could give!

Pleasant Grove Cemetary

Pleasant Grove

As you can see above, this week's field trip was to a small cemetary, located in Stone Mountain, GA, hidden behind a Days Inn and a Krystals. There are maybe four dozen plots, and the wole cemmetary is about 100 feet by 100 feet, if that. Most of the grave markers are dated around 1925.

Unfortunately I don't have a K2 meter anymore, so any further observation was stopped there. However many local legends say that this cemetary is known for producing 'Orbs' on film. However, after a few pictures, none developed.

Not having a significant backstory or any potential data to point to a haunting, there is a high shadow of doubt as to whether this place is Haunted. In truth, it probably isn't. Just another local legend.

Also, as a final note, I think that sign was put up recently, by a private citizen. It also appears that the font is comic sans. :D

Rufus M. Rose Fund: Protect Our Culture; Protect Our People.

As promised, I would like to deliver to you the readers, a summation of the Rufus M. Rose fund, and what donating to it will do.

Our foundation will be set up so that we can recoup the costs of the production of the film, increase cultural awareness, and support the community directly on Peachtree Street, in Atlanta Ga.

To accomplish this, I have a list of several specific tasks that any monies raised will be used for.

Firstly; 20% shall be set aside for taxes and government fees. I'm not sure what all this will entail yet, though if you woud like a more indepth explanation, as soon as I have the info, I an email you. Thus 1 out of every 5 USD raised will be set aside for taxes.

Secondly; the first $200 raised will go towards the creation of a 501(c) or other non-profit organization. Our specific goals will be both the preservation of the Rufus M Rose house, and the revitalization of the local economy here in Atlanta. As soon as I find out more about this, I will post an update.

Next, we will recoup all of our costs for production of the first short film, which are in total $240 USD; plus a series of 'bonus payments' of $50 to everyone who was involved in the film. This is a grand total of $590 USD.

After this, we will set aside another $300 USD to be used for future productions, to include a revamped; remade version of the short film, but not limited in scope to that.

Lastly, a $150 amount will be used to start and promote a website dedicated entirely to the Rose House and the Rose Legacy.

After this, we will openly announce future steps. Our only two steps beyond this, would be to purchase the House itself; and repair it and put it into use as a stop, guest-house, and small bar on Peactree Street. An adjoining ghost tour would also help to employ many. However this is in the far future, and is no doubt, outside of the range of 501 Nonprofit Status. However, I am supposing the 501 could make a loan, or donate to the company that does such; because that company would be protecting the legacy of the Rse House.

Lastly, in the event of profit from any venture from this movie, the proceeds minus any reservations for expansion/emergency, will be donated to Atlanta Homeless Shelters and Foodbanks. As a Ghost Tour Guide, I found one of my greatest sources of information was from the transient/homeless population. Even if they weren't 'working' per say, they provided a benefit to me, and I dont think any person should go without food or shelter (Here or the World Around).

So, in one fell swoop, trying to protect the Rose House, Stimulate the Economy, and provide for those who are most vulnerable among us.

Four Roses DVD

Yup, you read it right. In order to inspire people to 'donate' to our 'Four Roses' investigation fund, we are now selling DVDs of our Four Roses short film (click if you haven't seen it before). In addition, we will include a funny bloopers reel for you guys to watch.

Donation? $5.00; and you get a home-made DVD copy, and a certificate of authenticity and thanks for support.

Want something a little more concrete? We will soon have an actual dvd package on Amazon, which will be complete with album artwork and the works. However, it will cost $10.00; and the only extra content you will get will be the artwork.

Haunted Atlanta, the Rufus M Rose Story!

Shooting the Documentary

Well, the project has been tentatively titled "Haunted Atlanta: Rufus M. Rose House", and its definately turning into a worthwhile project. I have to admit that for the longest time, I had been dreaming of doing something similiar to this with many stories on this blogsite, the most interesting story to shoot, of course, being Corpsewood Manor. However, without a support network of friends and people to help me keep on track, I would, in retrospect, set the project back and back.

Then came CSE. As I started to expand CSE into something respectable, one of my up and coming project managers came at me with a request. He wanted to shoot a short film. He suggested we do a mini-documentary on a 'haunted' location around Atlanta, because he remembered me mentioning he project.

So we literally decided in the course of a day, to tackle the project. Within a week, we were casting and doing our first shoot. This weekend, we did two more days of shooting, some really guerilla stuff. Freezing our asses off. But we have a real vision for this project, and I think it is going to be fantastic.

Shooting the Documentary

I'm hoping that this blog starts to build some fandom. As we are now shooting the documentary for one of the stories posted here. So far, everyhing looks great. I think you readers will really enjoy it.

Also, please if your interested, bookmark or follow this blog. I would appreciate any help in getting the word out about it.

I'm happy to say that my car is now fixed! It kinda fell to disrepair when I did the photo session at Stone Mountain Cemetary, but now it seems to be working well again. My next goal is to do a photo investigation of Hell's Church, here in Canton, Georgia. Donations and monies from adsense clicks will be used directly for the fuel fund, and to acquire a voice recorder.

New CSE Project

Okay, so my company, Crimson Star Entertainment, has embarked on yet another new project. In a series we have so far titled 'Haunted Atlanta' we are producing a few small thematic documentaries for Youtube. The first of these is the documentary on the Rose House.

Of course, given that many of the elements of the story involve tales and premonitions given from psychics and paranormal investigators, it can't be quite called a documentary, but rather a thematic production with documentary-like elements.

But we have some good plans for the project, to include hiring an actress and actor to recreate one of the tales that was related to me by a psychic over the course of a few months. It is, what she believes, leads the building to be haunted. I have decided against hosting it myself, as I don't particularly think I have a voice or the face for film. However, if I have to I will.

Mostly, we are putting this together on a bubblegum budget, so we have to keep our costs down as low as possible, while still producing a quality film that still meets the needs for the project. If your a fan of this blog, it should be a worthwhile view.

I've got a treat for all of you listeners out there today! I went to Stone Mountain Cemetary, and conducted a small investigation. I have no background story on the plot, but rather, had read a rumor online that this was a great source of the phenomena known simply as 'orbs'.

For those of you who dont know, orbs are orb-like objects that are supposedly evidence of a haunting or spiritual energy. Ive seen 'supposed' orbs on prints and electronic media from Shakespeare's Theater (mentioned earlier), but many had readily apparent explanaions.

Unfortunately, my expedition today proved a bit fruitless. All photos that had a plausible case could be explained, but still, it was a fun trip. And definately a worth-while stop for anyone who visits the mountain. As there is a historic small-town business district nearby.

The Stone Mountain VFW plot. As a Veteran of the Iraqi conflict, Im a VFW member, and took a minute to clean any debris I could. One of the flags had broken off though, so I stuck it in the ground nearby.

About the only pic that was questionable. A possible orb, can't explain it too well. But Im sure there is an explanation.

Overall, it was a great trip. Its unfortunate that in doing this, something is now wrong with my car. If its not one thing, its another. I'll figure it out. Though if you would like to donate, feel free to donate to the 'soda' fund. The soda fund will probably go to my car now anyhow.

Oh, and contrary to what is popularly said and thought, there are no apparent Civil War soldiers buried here. There were a total of three unknown graves, but nothing else. Lots of World War II vets though.

Crimson Mysteries

Just a tiny update about the game I designed. It seems some people out there are interested. So, its really interesting, right now, I'm working to get another project off the ground. Actually I'm in the negotiation stage with the company that wants to publish the product. The product centers around the Vampire Mystery game which I developed. I was approached by a publisher in the industry, who expressed interest in the project.

Since then, I've been in negotiations with the publisher. However, his offers so far, have been low-balled to an extreme which I can't fathom. If he doesn't fulfill what I want from the deal, I might just decide to self-publish this idea as well. However, this project will put a drain on capital to develope it.

And considering my limited capital is tied up in hosting and content fees for the comic, I'm hoping sales pick up. Or at least that I can build my contact list.

Shakespeare's Tavern

Okay, so in downtown Atlanta, right off of Peachtree Street, there is a small theater/tavern called 'Shakespeare's Tavern'. It was a usual spot on the tours I used to give, and admittedly, one of the most photogenic.

It is a beautiful, victorian-inspired building that used to be a support facility for a commuter taxi in Atlanta in it's early days. Definately, its a worthwhile place to visit, if only to catch a drink and a show.

However, there are stories of hauntings. A young boy, dressed in Victorian clothing, is said to have been spotted in he upper levels of the tavern. There are also reports of a phantom man on the lower levels. However, there are no specific stories or tales to back up this information, and as of yet, I have garnered little information about this haunting.

This builing is also a great place to take photographs as I have had numerous reports of Orbs and other phenomenon on film. However, my investigation of such pictures are very limited, so I couldn't tell you much, except that the photos are genuine, as in they were taken there without any setup.

I will try to go to this site and take some photos there, and post them here for yall to review.

My Paranormal Activity

Haha. After having seen the movie, I've decided to go ahead and discuss what little paranormal activity I've personally experinced. So without further adieu, I present to you "Emperor's Haunting".

Firstly, it is important for youto know, that when I was younger, I worked at Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountan Georgia. Stone Mountain is a historic landmark in Georgia, with a massive stone carving of Robert E Lee, Jefferson Davis, and Stonewall Jackson on horseback. My official job title was that of Park's Beautification Specialist. This title and job position summed up the duties of a janitor, general laborer, and apprentice in several construction trades, all while only recieving the pay of only half of one of those positions! However, the job allowed for alot of autonomy and very little stress. Though it was somewhat taxing, I quickly realized I could work that job for as long as I dared. And indeed, I worked there for almost a year.

I worked the afternoon, from 3 PM until Midnight or about. And one of my tasks was to assist in the closing of several of the attractions, which usually happens around 5 PM in the afternoon. One of the buildings I would be charged with cleaning was the Antebellum Plantation. This was a somewhat accurate recreation of a plantation house before he civil war. In truth it was made of up several different pieces of such homes pulled in from all across the state.

From 730 to 9 PM every night, I would clean the plantation grounds, remove the trash, and generally take care of the bottom floor of the plantation. For some reason, it brings me memories of the The Roots- The Seed (2.0). But what was wierd, is my friend Taveous, who drove the pickup truck and delivered supplies to us, would always drop me off at the plantation. For the first month or two, I was convinced that after he dropped me off, he would head to the back of the plantation house, and go to the second level. Because all night, I would hear him walking around.

Needless to say, he wasn't. I found out after a few weeks, when they kept tellin me to change the trash upstairs. I did it a couple times, figuring Taveous had forgotten. But then I got mad, and confronted Taveous about it. He then revealed to me that he wasnt ever going to the top floor. I was kinda disconcerted.

Within the week, I took care of the top floor. However one night, I heard what I was sure, was Taveous upstairs. So I made my way upstairs and found no one. I continued my routine for another three months, never bringing it up again, rationalizing it in my head that it was rats or something. However it was ironic that after I left, more than a few reports of paranormal activity emerged from the plantation home.

But it was enough for me never to talk about it, at least, until now.

Twilight Mania!

Oh, alright. So Twilight Mania has bitten the American Public, and settled into the guts like an old case of H1N1. I will withdraw my own thoughts as to Stephenie Meyer's writing capability, as I've yet to fully develop my opinion on the matter. I suppose I'll pick up a copy tommorrow.

But in honor of Vampire madness, I present to you, my take on the Murder Mystery Game. This might be a bit of a divergence from the standard fare that I publish on this blog, but dont worry, I will return with another great ghost story after the Thanksgiving Holiday!

But in the meantime, here is a great Murder Mystery Game, maybe you guys can play it this Thanksgiving, or on Black Friday!

I call it simply the Vampire Mystery Game.

This is a brand of game similiar to other 'Murder Mystery' games, and is meant to be played at a dinner party of between 10 and 20 people. However, once you have the basics of how this game works, you can adapt it for larger or smaller groups.

For background, I actually developed this game to occupy the minds of my nieces and nephews, and it worked really well. After thinking about it for a bit, I realized that it would be fun for adults too, and a few of the more complex parts of the game could be fully realized at dinner parties. So, with that said, I introduce you to the Vampire Mystery Game.

The first step in the Vampire Mystery Game is to choose what guest attendee is your Vampire. You might want to set out notes at the different sitting places for your guests, which will discretely tell your guests whether they are Vampires or Humans. Also, tell them to keep their verdict a secret. However as the game becomes more active, and players learn how to play, you will have Vampires claiming they are Vampires, if only to confuse investigators.

During the meal, you should explain, in full, the rules of the game. Essentially the game has two objectives, to turn all humans to vampires, or to kill all vampires. How will this be done, read below.

After the meal is completed, and you are ready to begin the game, you will divide the group into 'houses'. You designate a several rooms in your house as 'houses'. You will want to make sure that each of these rooms is outfitted to give the 'home-owners' something to do. Magazines, board games, drinks, deserts, television. You will also make sure that there is a water gun, or maybe a nerf gun in the room, which is the only defense the house has.

Then, you, the game moderator, go each house, one after another, and release the house for their 'investigation' for 10 minutes. During this time, they must wear hats, to signify that they are investigating. They may go to the other houses, and ask questions about who the vampire could be. Indeed the humans must work together, to weed out the possible vampires. When a human thinks he has an accusation, he may accuse someone of being a vampire (only at the end of his investigation). If he accuses someone of being a vampire, they must reveal whether they are a vampire or not. If they are the vampire, the vampire dies (removed from the game). He must tell you, the GM, if he had made others into vampires. If not, is tale ends there. If the person accused is not a vampire, the accuser goes to jail. Those in jail can answer questions, but may not participate in the investigation.

During the investigation, the vampires, disquised as humans, can pretend to take part in the investigation. If they get close enough to a person to touch them, they must then whisper to them that the 'tagged' person has become a vampire. A new vampire must keep their new identity secret, and continue with investigations, trying to turn others into vampires, until there are no humans left who aren't in jail. A vampire can only 'create' other vampires during their investigation turn, not when others come to their house.

Also, a person at their house, can shoot someone in their house, most likely to defend from whom they think is a vampire. When they shoot someone, the person must admit whether they are a vampire or not. If the person is a vampire, the vampire dies, and must tell the Game Moderator of other vampires it 'created'. If the person who is shot is not a vampire, the shooter goes to jail.

The humans win if they kill all the vampires. The humans lose if all humans become vampires or end up in jail.

Corpse Wood Manor

One of my favorite stories of haunted locations in all of Georgi, is that of Corpse Wood Manor. Unfortuantely, I've yet to have the opportunity to visit the manor and examine it myself. However, maybe if this blog takes off, I can visit it, and by an applicable domain to support it. So however you can support me, is appreciated.

The Manor & Dr. Scuddle

The story starts in Chicago, at Layola University, where Dr. Charles Scuttle was a chemical engineer. I have confirmed his existance there through at least one method, as I've seen his name mentioned in the 1972 edition of the Stethescope, as part recipient of a government grant at that time.

In a bit of a tangent, I've also seen Dr. Scuttle's name mentioned in some documentation involving project MK-ULTRA. This was a supposed government experiment to test LSD on unknowing test subjects. While his involvement can't be confirmed, it does seem interesting that the grant was given to the Chemical Department of a small Catholic University. The grant was for $600,000 USD, which seems alot in 1972. I will do my best to contact departmet heads and ask them about this, and update you guys in the future.

But back to the matter at hand. Dr Scuttle moved to Atlanta, from Chicago, giving the impression that he wanted to getaway from city ife. He later moved out further to Rome, Georgia and further to Trion. Finally comin there, he bought lad in an area know as the Corpsewoods, and built his own manor.

The Manor was self-sufficient, and was located within 15 miles of the city of Trion (which today, has a popultion of 1600 people). The events that take place in the story happened in 1982, which is important in establishing context of the events. So far as I can tell, the events as I describe them happened. However a few elements are derivitive of local stories, and much harder to confirm. Those elements will be put in Italics.

I'd suggest picking up a copy of the 'Murders at Corpsewoods' for your own investigation. It was written by a man named James Budd.

The Murders

When Dr. Scuttle moved into Corpsewood, he didn't move in alone. In truth, he moved with his Partner Joey Odum. So, Dr. Scuttle was a homosexual. That much we can be certin about, and given the climate of rural Georgia in th early 80s, I imagine it must've been a rarity, especially to be open and out about it.

But be that as it may. Dr. Scuttle and his partner would have parties at their manor, and it was thought drugs were often involved. Some of the local attendees were locals Kenneth Avery Brock and Tony West. It is a definate that the two knew Scuttle enough to know, probably rightly, that he had money.

It is ofte assumed that the upper portion of the Chicken Coop, which they had built themselves, they had converted into a play-pen of sorts. Supposedly they used it as a den for drug use, and other perverse things. One of the buildings that still stands today, is the Chicken Coop.

On December 12th, 1982 they came to the conclusion that they would rob Dr. Scuttle. However, the event didn't go as planned when Odum, Scuttle, and apparently Scuttle's dogs resisted the robbery. Not to mention that, despite being off-the-grid, they still kept their money in the bank.

This didn't stop them from killing Odum and Scuttle. Though, it is said all they escaped with was a small golden Harp.

Supposedly, the town's folk showed up, to find the gruesome scene. But supposedly, they found all sorts of occult memorabilia. Many quickly came to the conclusion that Scuttle and Odum were devil-worshippers. The house was either burned, or some how grounded so that only two buildings remain today.

And the whole region, many investigators contend, is incredibly haunted. However, there is much more to this story, so subscribe, and keep reading!

Underground Atlanta

Underground is one of the best places that you can go to see our actual history. For those of you who are not from Atlanta, please allow me to briefly explain.

You see, Atlanta was originally founded as the Cherokee and Creek Indians were pushed out of the valley that is now Atlanta. The Atlantic and Western Rail-lines decided to create a joint venture here, and created Terminus, which was a train station, and community. However, unlike the rest of the "Genteel" south, Terminus wasn't a fancy southern community like Charleston, Savannah or such. It was actually a fairly rough and tumble town, filled with railway workers and transients.

However, over time, Atlanta has changed, been burned, been the center for a peaceful movement of change, and is now the de-facto capital of the South. Atlanta now stands as a capital of economics, culture, and technology in the south, with the busiest airport in the nation, and a huge transportation infrastructure. But if you look closer, you can take a peek into it's past.

One example of this, is Underground. For you see, when Atlanta was rebuilt, it was literally rebuilt on the remains of the old city. Underground Atlanta is one example of this, as it has at least two levels from two different eras, over which downtown Atlanta was built.

However, as with anything that is old, there are more than a few stories associated with the paranormal. One such story, is that the Confederates had a Theater level hospital in the region. The capacity of the Hospital was about 1500 people, and during the height of the conflict, they had that many people arriving per day seeking medical treatment. So it was likely that many died in the field outside of the Hospital, waiting on treatment.

The remains of the old tracks and a well that serviced the hospital still exist in Underground, at the location that was once Dante's Down the Hatch. Supposedly, several phantom apparitions can be spotted at this location, though this is as of yet unconfirmed.

Either way, the area is historic, and makes for a great shopping district today!

Paranormal Activity

I reviewed this movie on another blog of mine, so I thought I would put it here as well, its definately worthwhile.

Hey everyone. This one was a bit overdue, as everyone was talking about this new movie, paranormal activity. So I decided to see it, and review it, if only because I seem to have an extended period of writer's block, mostly due to other events happening in my life right now.

Okay, firstly, you have to remember, the movie was made for $11,000 USD, which is really good, considering that I've seen some movies made for $30,000 which definitely didn't look as professional as this. Admittedly, however, the budget requirements of this production weren't as much as others. Either way though, my hat is off to them, if this is the case.

So whats the plot you ask? A couple in a relationship have only recently moved in together. However, the girl brings with her, an entity not of this world. It starts off with simple lights being left on, or keys moved around, but soon progresses to full-out terror. I won't give anymore, but its definitely a worthwhile story, with a scary twist at the end.

However, for all of it's hype, I found the movie lacking. It wasn't frightening to me, and I felt that the scares were too predictable. And you dint need a huge budget to write a unique script. But despite all this, my hat is off to them for what marketing success they did have.

So whats my verdict? Should you see it? Currently there is nothing better in the market right now for scary movies, though that might change quickly, so if you are going to see something, you might as well see this. However, if you can hold off, you might as well see it on DVD or HBO.

One of the things I really liked about the movie was the use of the Gonzo POV for the film. It reminded me of Quarantine, and this is a great way to immerse someone into the plot. Its definately a great ride for someone who is interested in hauntings or possession.

Fox Theater: Ghosts of the Past

Firstly before, I begin, if you've never seen the Fox Theater, you can see it here. I recommend you see it in person, its at the corner of Peachtree Street and North Avenue.

The Fox Theater started out as a temple of the Scottish Rite of the Masons. I can't elaborate more into that, simply because I don't know too much, though I think the lodge that inhabited it is still around here somewhere. However, the first thing you will notice is the theater looks as if it is influence by Arab design. Which is true, the theater is a westernized version of what you might find in the Arab World.

However, Architecture aside, the Fox Theater is incredibly interesting. It has a great history after its life as a Masonic Lodge. During the Civil War, it served as a Confederate Ammo Cache. This supposedly contributes to the haunted status of the Theater, as supposedly there is a tunnel at the bottom of the theater were the ammuntion used to be stored. People still report seeing confederate soldiers there standing guard.

In addition, supposedly an avid theater goer who always dreamed of being an actress inhabits the grounds. She was always one who wanted to be on stage, and gain acclaim, but it never happened for her. However, she had such a strong bond to the theater that after her death, she haunted the grounds. Now she supposedly steals the roses from the Actress' rooms.

However, this must be taken with a grain of salt as almost ever college or university in the Atlanta and Metro Atlanta area claims to be haunted in the theater department. You have to remember this, and keep it in mind.

But definately, the theater is worth looking at. Its a great facility and makes a great night out!

The Imperial Hotel: Haunted or Just Hauntng?

The Imperial Hotel is located in Atlanta, once again, not so far from The Rufus Rose House. The Hotel has a deep and varied histoy, starting from its construction in 1911. It was designed by the Arhitect Edward Dougherty, with an emphasis on what is described as a variation of the chicago style.

From its groundbreaking, all the way up to the 1950s, the hotel served as an upper-class hotel in the city. Seven stories tall, it had over 120 rooms above the first floor and basement.

In 1968, it suffered a small fire, and as remodelled. After this, the Hotel stopped operation, as new Hotels began to be built in the city, including the mega Hyatt and Hiltons more intown. However, the Imperial was still used. In the 1970s it was home to Domino's Lounge, which was both a go-go bar and a local stage for blues artists of the day. However, within the decade the Lounge Closed down.

The Hotel remained vacant for the next several years, becoming a local mainstay for the city's homeless population. However in 1988, the hotel caught fire, and there were several undocumented deaths. In 1996 it was remodelled again, and made into low income housing.

This hotel has tons of stories, the most moving has to be the story of the undocumented deaths. But the exterior of the building certainly has an appreciable creepy asthetic.

On my tours, I've had several "sensitives" feel as if they could detect more to that in the story. One of the most common 'feelings' that is gotten from the house is that someone committed suicide from the top-most window to he left, as if you are looking at the house from the front. However, I was never able to confirm this story.

But on thing can be said or sure, whether or not there is any paranormal activity in the hotel, it has one of the more diverse and interesting histories in the city. And even if it isn't haunted, it certainly could seem that way! I recommend that you take a look at this building if you get a chance!

Rose House

Alright, so my first story for you, is that of the Rufus Rose House, off of Peachtree Street in Atlanta, Georgia. I will cover the history of the house, then reveal to you some of the strange happenings that I've encountered at the house. Then I will talk about the state of the house today.

The reason I can talk so candidly and knowledgably about the house is because the house is on a tour-guide route that I do here in Atlanta as a Ghost Tour Guide. The house is a big part of my particular tour, so I had took it upon myself to do research and get as much background information about the house as possible.

The house was built in 1907 for Rufus M Rose, a distillery owner here in Atlanta. It was built for $9000 in 1907, which according to consumer price index, would be worth around $250,000 today. If you think that this is price for construction, if you added in all other market factors, the house could easily sell for over $1,000,000 today. The architect was a man named EC Siez.

The house was first inhabited by Mr Rose. He lived there with his family. He had at least one son and one daughter. As was the tradition of the day, he would have galas to show off his daughter, so that she might be married. There are rumors that say that his daughter had an unrequited suitor, but it can't be confirmed. He moved, with his family and his distillery, to Chatanooga.

The house then served as a boarding house for more wealthy, upper-middle class people of the time. We know that alot of the original furnishings were left in the house.

Later, the house served as a Museum and later an Antiques store. However, for the past 20 years, at the very least, it's been vacant. It is still for sale today.

So what makes me think that the house might be a source for paranormal activity? Well, when I first started my job, we did a tour to learn the route that we would be taking guests on. We brought a K5 meter with us, it detects electro-magnetic activity. We proceeded to ask about to see if there might be an entity that would set the meter off. We actually started to get some response, which surprised me. I checked to see if the meter was running to the house.

If your familiar with GE Power, you know that they keep enough juice running so that the meters work. Well, I think the grid had been disconnected because the meter wasn't working. Given that we were in the middle of the city, there was still plenty of random electro-magnetic energy to affect the K5 meter.

However, it was really odd because whatever it was answered three control questions, and then answered several questions specifically about the house. We found that, according to our mediums, that there was a female entity in the house, who had been murdered. There was also a young boy, but his story was, and still is unclear.

I became incredibly interested in the tour. And asked my employer some of the stories about the house. She has some specific stories and symptoms that affect her, as she is a medium as well. She reports sensing a large male presence near the house, and every time she approaches the house, she gets an intense sensation of heat in her arm and right side.

I found this interesting, because a few weeks later, I had a customer come with me on the tour, and reported getting a heat-sensation in her right arm. At first it didnt strike me as peculiar, until the very end of the tour, which I remembered my boss' own unique story. Either way, it just added fuel to the fire which was my interest in the house.

You can still see the house today. It is on Peachtree Street, literally only a few feet from Gladys Knight's Chicken and Waffles. If you have a real stash of cash, you can buy the house for the princely sum of 1.6 million.

The house has an interesting backstory, but not one with a compelling paranormal link. So if I were to rate it out of five, I would say a three. The paranormal happenings at the house, however, have been the most I've ever seen in any location, and that would get five out of five. The overall ambience of the house is great, it fits the haunted house stereotype almost to a tee, and deserves another five out of five.

The house as a whole gets a 4.2 out of 5, and is honestly a great place to visit, if only for historical reasons. Though at night, it certainly has the power to scare!
